Paulena Dempsey (Jarrettsville, Md.) led the WU scoring attack with six total goals as the Bulldogs claimed their first road victory of the season with a 20-4 triumph over the Chowan University Hawks at Chowan Field Saturday. Wingate is 2-1 overall, while Chowan drops its season opener.

Brittany Andrews (Bel Air, Md.) finished second in scoring for the Bulldogs with three goals. Freshman attack
Madison Hobson (Dunkirk, Md.) netted the first goal of her collegiate career at the 23:18 mark in the second half and scored her second goal of the contest with 17:01 left in the second half.

Adriea Herndon (Aurora, Colo.) led the Hawks, as she netted three of the team's four goals Saturday.
The 'Dogs started the scoring right out of the gate as Dempsey tallied the first goal of the contest with 28:27 to go in the first half of play. The Bulldogs led 3-0 until Herndon put the Hawks on the board with 24:58 left in the first to make it a 3-1 game. Wingate did not let up as they scored a grand total of 10 goals in the first half and then added 10 more in the second to claim the team's second consecutive win.

Jenna Will (Sykesville, Md.) helped the 'Dogs end the game on a strong note with back-to-back goals with 3:15 and 1:43 left in regulation. Will's first goal was from the help of Harbacevich who picked up her first career assist. Senior midfielder and team captain
Emily Nosek (Bel Air, Md.) led Wingate with five total assists.
The Wingate University women's lacrosse team will be back in action on Saturday Feb. 27, as they hit the road to Young Harris, Ga. to take on the Mountain Lions of Young Harris College at 2 p.m. The Chowan University Hawks will play in Spartanburg, S.C. on Feb. 22 against the Converse College Valkyries at 4 p.m.
