The Crusaders struck first as they began the contest with back-to-back goals to take a 2-0 lead with 11:39 to go in the first quarter on a goal from senior attack

The game remained tied at 4-4 with 3:37 remaining in the second quarter until a goal from Weiseman gave Wingate a 5-4 lead with 3:33 remaining in the second. The Abbey responded with another goal to tie the contest up at 5-5 going into the halftime break.
The Bulldogs had the 7-6 advantage with 9:20 in the third quarter on a score from freshman attack

Jacob Ormerod (Lake Mary, Fla.) posted 13 saves on the afternoon, encoring a 16-save performance last game against number 11 Mercyhurst University. Belmont Abbey sophomore goalkeeper
Harley Whitham (Elk Grove, Calif.) also recorded 13 total saves. Both goalies went the distance Saturday.
The Wingate University men's lacrosse team will be back in action Wednesday with number 12 Mount Olive visiting the Graham Gill Field at the Irwin Belk Track Complex. The Belmont Abbey College Crusaders will also be in action at home on Wednesday, when they face the Brevard College Tornadoes at 4 p.m.
