Wingate, N.C.----Wingate junior midfielder Brittany Andrews (Bel Air, Md.) netted a total of six goals on the afternoon to lead the offensive attack as the Bulldogs claimed a South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse road victory over the Brevard College Tornados at the Brevard Lacrosse Field Saturday. "Today was a great team effort," Wingate head women's lacrosse coach Caline McHenry Olmsted says. "Laura Swanson and Arion Pierre did a tremendous job on defense, while Brittie and Shannon did well finishing their shots. I am proud of our consistent effort throughout the entire game."

BC struck first in the contest on a score from sophomore defenseman Kelly Kearnan (Mooresville, N.C.) to take an early 1-0 lead with 27:39 left in the first half. The Bulldogs then commenced a run of five unanswered goals and never looked back to gain a 5-1 advantage at the 17:30 mark in the first half of play. The first four tallies of this run were all scored by Andrews.

The Tornados ended the WU consecutive goal streak with back-to-back scores to cut the lead to 5-3 with 13:54 in the first. The 'Dogs answered with consecutive insurance tallies of their own to push the margin out to 7-3 at the 9:18 mark in the first. BC then trimmed the margin down to three goals, thanks to Kearnan's second goal of the contest to make it a 7-4 game with 8:50 to go in the first half. Kearnan led Brevard with three goals Saturday.

Wingate then netted back-to-back tallies to gain a 9-4 advantage with 58 seconds remaining in the half. The Bulldogs maintained the five-goal lead going into the halftime break.

The Tornados would begin the second half of play with a goal to make it a 9-5 contest at the 27:06 mark. The 'Dogs then responded with four consecutive scores to jump out to a 13-5 advantage.
