Wingate, N.C.----The nationally-ranked Wingate University women's and men's swimming teams will face local rival Queens University of Charlotte in a unique dual meet Friday and Saturday (
meet agenda). The Bulldog women will host the Royals Friday at the Wingate Natatorium. The first event is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
On Saturday, the Wingate men travel to Charlotte to face Queens at the Levine Center. The first event will start at 11 a.m. The four teams occupy prominent spots in the first College Swimming Coaches Association of America/TYR NCAA Division II top 25 polls of the season. The Queens men are number one, while the Wingate men are number eight. On the women's side, the Royals are number two and the Bulldogs are tied for number five (with Grand Valley State).

MEN (Oct. 28, 2016 in Wingate): Queens finished one-two in the 400 Freestyle Relay, rallying for a 105-100 NCAA Division II men's swimming victory over Wingate at the WU Natatorium. Current assistant coach
Leif-Henning Klüver ('17) won the 100 and the 200 Freestyle events to lead the hosts.
WOMEN (Oct. 29, 2016 in Charlotte): Queens won 10 of 11 events to take a 141-64 victory at the Levine Center. Bulldog graduate student and team captain
Alex Divelbiss won the 200 Individual Medley for the visitors.
MEET NOTES
-Queens is the three-time defending national champion on both the women's and the men's side.
-The Wingate women have finished third, second and third in the last three NCAA events. The Bulldog men have finished in the NCAA top 16 11 years in a row. Wingate was sixth in the 2017 men's national championship meet.
-Seven Wingate student-athletes won two individual events each as the Bulldogs swept a dual meet from Catawba College last Saturday. The Wingate men won 177-65, while the Bulldog women earned a 187-56 triumph.
-Divelbiss was one of three women to win twice versus Catawba, while senior teammate and men's captain
Sebastian Holmberg led four men in the double victory club.
