Wingate, N.C.----Rollins College sophomore midfielder
Kallie German (Centreville, Md.) led all scorers with three goals to boost the sixth-ranked Tars to a 9-3 non-conference victory over the Wingate University Bulldogs in NCAA Division II women's lacrosse action from Graham Gill Field at the Irwin Belk Track Complex Sunday afternoon.
Wingate is now 1-1 overall in the early season, while Rollins improves to 2-2 overall. The Tars complete their two-game road N.C. road trip with a 1-1 record after falling to ninth-ranked Queens University of Charlotte 6-3 Friday afternoon. The Wingate Bulldogs remain at home Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference encounter versus Pfeiffer University at 4 p.m. Rollins hosts Wheeling Jesuit Friday, March 3 at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs jumped out to the early 1-0 advantage on an unassisted goal from Dempsey with 26:52 left in the opening half, but the Tars responded with back-to-back goals from Ashton and German to grab the 2-1 lead with 8:21 in the half. Neither team would score for the remainder of the first frame with Rollins maintaining the 2-1 advantage at the halftime intermission.
A game-tying goal from Dempsey knotted the score up 2-2 at the 29:13 mark of the second half; however, the Rollins Tars answered with five unanswered goals to take a commanding 7-2 lead with 17:44 to go in the second stanza.
O'Neal broke the Tars' scoring run to make it a 7-3 game at the 13:37 plateau, but Rollins added two more insurance tallies to extend its advantage to 9-3 with 3:35 remaining in regulation. The visiting Tars held on for the six-goal triumph.

Arion Pierre (Haymarket, Va.) tallied a career-high 18 saves and took the loss. She also played the full 60 minutes.
Rollins outshot Wingate 34-21, while forcing 23 WU turnovers compared to the Tars' 14 total mistakes. Both teams tied at 20-20 in ground balls. Rollins converted only one goal on 10 free-position shots, while Wingate also tallied one score on three free-position opportunities. The Tars narrowly won 8-6 in draw controls.
