Evans scores twice as Wingate cruises to 5-1 victory at Catawba

Salisbury, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs scored four times in the second half Wednesday night, cruising to a 5-1 victory at Catawba College in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action. Wingate improves to 5-2-1 overall and 3-1 in the SAC, while the Indians fall to 1-8 overall and 0-6 in league play.  

KEY STATS

- Wingate dominated all night, out-shooting Catawba 24-11
- The 'Dogs put 12 shots on frame compared to seven for the Indians
- Wingate held an 11-5 edge in shots in the first half; 13-6 edge in the second half
- The Bulldogs took six of the nine corner kicks on the night
- Nate Evans scored the first and last goal for the Bulldogs
- Oscar Perez added a goal and an assist
- Marco Sellen and Federico Andreani and each added a goal

- Sellen's third goal of the year came two minutes after halftime off Nygaard's assist to make it 2-0
- Perez's third goal of the year came in the 68th minute off Taylor's assist
- Andreani struck 11 seconds later, netting his first career goal to make it 4-0
- Evans scored his second goal of the night with four minutes left to push the lead to five
- Faust scored in the 88th minute to get Catawba on the board

- WU now 5-0-1 in last six meetings with Catawba
