Gaffney, S.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs outscored Limestone College 26-14 in the fourth quarter Sunday afternoon, downing the Saints 77-71 in NCAA Division II women's basketball action. Wingate wins its third straight, improving to 4-2 overall while Limestone falls to 1-4 on the year.  

KEY STATS

- Wingate shot 53.7 percent from the field, hitting six-of-11 shots from three-point range (54.5 percent)
- Limestone shot 37.9 percent from the field, connecting on 10-of-26 from beyond the arc (38.5 percent)
- The 'Dogs held a 42-25 rebounding advantage and 12-10 edge in second-chance points
- WU converted 12 Limestone turnovers into 20 points; The Saints had 23 points off 22 Wingate turnovers
- Wingate had 20 assists on 29 field goals

KEY BULLDOGS

- Danasia Witherspoon had 20 points, seven rebounds and two steals
- Caroline Averette added 17 points and six  boards, hitting three-of-four shots from three-point range
- Teliyah Jeter contributed 13 points, eight rebounds and four blocks
- Jordan Quick had 10 points and four assists
- Courtney Robinson compiled three points, 12 rebounds and six assists

FIRST QUARTER

- Taylour Hunter's three-point play gave the Saints a 9-5 lead
- A three and a jumper from Averette put the 'Dogs on top at the 3:09 mark
- A Morgan Simmons triple with 34 seconds left put WU on top 20-16 heading to the second quarter

SECOND QUARTER

- Wingate used an 8-0 run to take a 13-point lead, with Taylor Helms and Quick scoring three points each in the spurt
- Hunter's three got Limestone back within five, but an Averette three made it 36-28 with a minute left
- Hunter's three got the Saints within five at halftime

THIRD QUARTER

- Limestone scored the first eight points of the quarter, taking a 42-36 lead on Jayla Morrow's three
- A layup from Schekinah Bimpa gave the Saints a 53-40 lead with four minutes to go
- WU scored the next six, cutting the lead to seven on Withserpoon's bucket at the 2:07 mark
- Witherspoon's bucket with 37 seconds left cut Limestone's lead to 57-51 heading to the fourth

FOURTH QUARTER

- Back-to-back Witherspoon buckets tied it at 59 two minutes into the final quarter
- An Averette three and Quick three-point play gave WU a four-point lead with six minutes left
- A Hunter three gave Limestone a 68-65 lead at the 5:05 mark
- Wingate scored the next nine points to take a six-point advantage
- A Robinson bucket put Wingate on top, while two Witherspoon layups made it 73-68 at the 1:17 mark
- An Averette jumper and Robinson free throw in the final 20 seconds made the final margin 77-71
