Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs scored in double figures for the third straight game Sunday afternoon, while senior right-hander
Jimmy Doolittle (Charlotte, N.C.) tossed six shutout innings as the 'Dogs finished off a three-game sweep over the University of Charleston with a 10-0 victory at Ron Christopher Stadium and Plyler Athletic Field. Wingate moves to 10-1 on the year, while the Golden Eagles fall to 0-3 overall.
Junior outfielder
Tanner Forry (York, Pa.) was three-for-five with a double, homer, four RBI and two runs scored to lead the Wingate offense. Junior catcher
Andrew Llewellyn (Moseley, Va.) added a triple, two RBI and run scored, while junior infielder
Tyler Schneider (Richland, Ind.) was two-for-three with a double, two RBI and a run scored. Senior designated hitter
Bradley Brown (Rockingham, N.C.) collected an RBI and run scored, while senior infielder
Brett Branton (Athens, Ga.) had a pair of hits and two runs scored.
After three scoreless innings, the Bulldogs got on the board in the fourth. Forry led off the frame with a double, while Brown followed by drawing a walk. Llewellyn followed by lining a two-run triple to center, then scored on an RBI groundout from
Justin Guy (Greensboro, N.C.) to make it 3-0.
The Bulldogs scored two more in the fifth. Schneider lined a one-out double to left center, then came home when Forry followed with his team-best fifth homer of the year, a towering two-run blast to left center to make it 5-0.
An error, walk and Branton single loaded the bases in the sixth. Schneider was hit by a pitch to force home the first run of the inning, while Brown's sacrifice fly put the 'Dogs on top by seven.

Zach Little (Troutman, N.C.),
Jed Bryant (Lexington, N.C.) and Branton loaded the bases for Wingate in the seventh. Schneider was once again hit by a pitch to force home a run, while Forry's two-run single put the 'Dogs in double figures for the third time in as many days.
Doolittle threw 94 pitches in six plus innings of work, allowing just three hits while striking out eight and walking five to move to 2-0 on the year.
Sawyer Lee (Norwood, N.C.),
Riley Edwards (Hickory, N.C.) and
Josh Karklin (Waxhaw, N.C.) each worked an inning in relief, allowing just one hit while striking out five. The Bulldog bullpen was fantastic over the weekend, tossing 11 1/3 shutout innings with 18 strikeouts while allowing on three hits.
Jonathan Carr took the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking three.
Wingate is back in action Tuesday, hosting Belmont Abbey at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs open SAC play next weekend, hosting a three-game series against Lincoln Memorial, starting Friday night at 6 p.m.
