Wingate, N.C.----The University of Indianapolis men's lacrosse team put together a 6-0 second half run to take a 9-8 NCAA Division II victory over number 16 Wingate University Saturday afternoon at Graham Gill Field. Greyhound junior attack Parker Kump (Surrey, B.C.) led the visitors with three goals.
 
Wingate junior attack men Alex Llerandi (Marietta, Ga.) and Ryan Ormerod (Lake Mary, Fla.) had two goals each for the Bulldogs. Wingate graduate student goalie Jacob Ormerod (Lake Mary, Fla.) tied his career-high with 22 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
First Quarter
 
Four different Bulldogs scored a goal to give Wingate a 4-1 lead after the first 15 minutes. UIndy junior attack Shawn Kimble (Rochester, N.Y.) scored the game's first goal at the 12:17 mark. The Bulldogs got on the board with five minutes to go in the first frame, as freshman long-stick middie Reese Orman (Apple Valley, Minn.) scored his first career goal on an assist from senior attack Seth Grimwood (Huntingtown, Md.). Llerandi finished the flurry with 45 seconds left.
 
Second Quarter

The second quarter was a 2-2 stalemate as Wingate took a 6-3 advantage to the halftime locker room. Ryan Ormerod and Llerandi scored goals for the Bulldogs in the second stanza.
 
Third Quarter
 
Wingate senior attack Jeremy Sullivan (Crofton, Md.) scored the first goal of the third quarter (from a Grimwood assist) at the 13:34 mark, giving the Bulldogs their biggest lead of the day at 7-3. The Greyhounds started the aforementioned 6-0 run with four goals to conclude the third quarter. Kump had two of the scores (12:33, 4:07) to tie the score 7-7 with four minutes to play.
 
Fourth Quarter
 
UIndy senior midfielder Sam Horning (Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored the game-winner at the 12:36 mark. Kimble gave the visitors some insurance with a goal two minutes later on an assist from Kump. Wingate freshman attack Bobby Padden (Cary, N.C.) brought the Bulldogs within one four minutes later, thanks to assist from sophomore attack Josh Ferentinos (Gaithersburg, Md.). Neither team would score again as the Greyhounds held on for the victory.
 
TURNING POINT
 
UIndy's 6-0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters was the difference.
