Charlotte, N.C.----The 41st-ranked Queens University Royals went 2-1 in doubles play and split singles play Saturday afternoon, edging No. 10 Wingate University 5-4 in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis action. The Royals improve 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 12-4 overall and 5-1 in league play.

Josh DuToit (Charlotte, N.C.) and sophomore
Daniel Belsito (Charlotte, N.C.) prevailed 8-7 at one doubles, with the Royals winning 8-5 and 8-4 at two and three doubles.
Belsito's second win of the day came at one singles, prevailing 6-1 and 6-3. DuToit won 6-0 and 7-5 at number five singles, while sophomore
Tamir Geva (Jerusalem, Israel) picked up a 7-5, 6-2 victory at six singles.
Queens won at two, three and four singles to clinch the match. Freshman
Matthew Jones (Shrewsbury, United Kingdom) fought back after dropping the first set 7-5 to win set two 6-1 and force a third set, which went to a tiebreaker, where Queens won. The Royals also picked up a tight 7-6, 7-6 victory at four singles over freshman
Enrico Giacomini (Vicenza, Italy).
Wingate is back in action Thursday, traveling to USC Aiken for a 2 p.m. match.
