Anderson, S.C.--- The Clayton State University Lakers outscored the Wingate University Bulldogs 49-36 in the second half, overcoming a nine-point halftime deficit en route to a 78-74 victory in NCAA Division II women's basketball action in the season-opening SAC-PBC Challenge. The Lakers start the season 1-0, while the Bulldogs fall to 0-1.

SECOND QUARTER

- Buckets from Elana Ingram and Troutman gave the Bulldogs an 11-point lead with 8:48 to go

- A Kelsie Towns three got the Lakers within 10 a minute later

THIRD QUARTER

- Clayton State used a 9-0 run to tie it at 43 on two Dejah Montgomery free throws midway through the quarter
- The Bulldogs countered with a 7-1 run, with Jasmine Stephen's three-point play making it 50-44 at the 4:07 mark
- Clark buried a three to push the lead back to eight, but CSU closed the quarter on a 10-0 run
- Kelsie Towns knocked down a three in the final seconds to give the Lakers a 55-53 lead

FOURTH QUARTER

- CSU continued its run by scoring the first seven points in the fourth
- A Christal Williams bucket put Clayton State on top 62-53 with 8:31 left
- Two Jeter free throws and an Ingram layup got WU within four at the 4:13 mark
- Wilson's layup stretched the CSU lead back to eight with 2:37 remaining
- Ingram knocked down three free throws to make it a three-point game with a minute left
- Layups from Coleman and Troutman made it 76-74 with 16 seconds left
- Williams hit a pair of free throws with 11 seconds remaining to push the lead back to four
- Wingate was unable to get any closer
