Harrogate, Tenn.----Wingate University started the second half on a 3-0 run, giving the Bulldogs a lead they would not relinquish on the way to an 8-6 South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse victory over Lincoln Memorial Saturday at the LMU Lacrosse Complex. Goalie Arion Pierre had 10 saves and a game-high nine ground balls as the Bulldogs boost their record to 4-7 overall and 2-2 in the SAC. The LMU Railsplitters are 9-3 overall and 3-2 in the SAC.

"Arion Pierre and our defense really kept us alive in the game. This was a big conference game for us and we were really able to shut down their key attack players. Emily Ketron was a big transition player and her two goals got us going on the offensive side. We are excited to have a long stretch playing on our home turf!"

-Wingate held a slight edge in shots (23-20) and shots on goal (18-16)
-Wingate had 24 ground balls compared to 17 for Lincoln Memorial

-Becca Ruiz had one goal and one assist
-Paige Kamer scored the game-winner with 21:17 left to play
-Ellie Gottschalk had the assist on Kamer's game-winning goal
 
FIRST HALF
 
-The first half was tied at 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 and 4-4
-Wingate took its first lead of the afternoon at the 4:51 mark (4-3 WU)
-Cifolilli scored the 'Dogs fourth goal on an assist from Ruiz
-LMU answered three minutes later to tie the score 4-4 entering halftime
-Pierre had five saves as LMU outshot Wingate 10-7 (9-6 on goal)
 
SECOND HALF
 
-Kamer had both of her goals (21:17, 12:55) in the crucial 3-0 run to start the second half
-In between Kamer's two scores, Kendall Wells scored her team-best 30th goal of the season
-Kamer's second goal made the score 7-4 Wingate
-LMU answered with two goals in 98 seconds to cut the deficit to 7-6
-Bella Pellet concluded the scoring for both teams at the 8:29 mark
-Pellet's tally gave Wingate a two-goal cushion
-The Bulldogs caused six LMU turnovers in the second half
