David Nash en route to a 3-1 victory over eighth-seeded Coker College in an elimination game on the opening day of the 2019 South Atlantic Conference baseball tournament. Wingate improves to 31-16 overall, advancing to the double-elimination portion of the tournament, while the Cobras are eliminated from the tournament, falling to 16-28-1 on the year.
THOUGHTS FROM JEFF GREGORY
"It was a tough game and I thought our guys did a good job. Nash was really good from the start and I thought that their starter was just as good. We got several big hits to push some runs across against him. Our pitching was outstanding and we managed a tough inning defensively in the seventh and only gave up one run to keep some momentum on our side. The play-in games are tough and I thought we played well."
