‘Dogs drop series opener at Lincoln Memorial

Harrogate, Tenn.----The Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters scored in each of the first four innings Friday afternoon, picking up a 13-3 victory over Wingate University in South Atlantic Conference baseball action. LMU improves to 26-12 overall and 13-3 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 24-13 overall and 9-7 in league play.

- LMU out-hit Wingate 16-7 on the day
- The Railsplitters had five extra-base hits; The 'Dogs had four
- Wingate committed four of the five errors in the contest

- Nate Stinson's RBI double started the scoring in the fourth inning
- Richey followed with a two-run triple to right center to make it 11-1
- Reddick made it 12-1 with an RBI single

SEVENTH INNING

- Chris Salvey's RBI single capped the scoring for Lincoln Memorial to make it 13-1

EIGHTH INNING

- Mellett drew a one-out walk
- Llewellyn followed with a two-run blast to left center

WRAPUP

- Ethan Elliott got the win, moving to 8-2
- He allowed a run on six hits in seven innings, striking out 12 and walking one
- David Nash took the loss, falling to 1-4
- He allowed eight runs on six hits in 2 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking two
