#7 Wingate takes 169-86 victory over Gardner-Webb

Wingate, N.C.----The number seven Wingate University women's swimming team won 10 of the first 11 events on the way to a 169-86 victory over Gardner-Webb University Friday evening at the WU Natatorium. Bulldog junior Maddie Carson (Pineville, La.) won both backstroke events to lead the victorious hosts (complete results).

THOUGHTS FROM HEAD COACH KIRK SANOCKI

"I am very pleased with our competitive attitude and effort against a great team to start the spring semester. Our December preparation featured major changes from anything we've done in the last five years, so it was interesting to see how the ladies would respond. They responded in a big way, demonstrating to us that they're up for the challenge to have a great second half of the season."
