Wingate, N.C.----The number seven Wingate University women's swimming team won 10 of the first 11 events on the way to a 169-86 victory over Gardner-Webb University Friday evening at the WU Natatorium. Bulldog junior Maddie Carson (Pineville, La.) won both backstroke events to lead the victorious hosts (complete results).

Our December preparation featured major changes from anything we've done in the last five years, so it was interesting to see how the ladies would respond. They responded in a big way, demonstrating to us that they're up for the challenge to have a great second half of the season."

BLUEGRASS MOUNTAIN CONFERENCE MEET

The nationally-ranked Wingate University men's and women's swimming teams will compete in the 22nd annual Bluegrass Mountain Conference championship meet at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center (MCAC) February 13-16. Preliminaries begin Thursday through Sunday at 10 a.m. Finals on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will start at 6 p.m. Sunday's finals will commence at 5 p.m.
