Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs scored twice in the final four minutes Saturday afternoon to force overtime, but #24 Mount Olive prevailed 13-12 in NCAA Division II women's lacrosse action at Graham Gill Field. The Trojans move to 3-0, while the Bulldogs fall to 1-2.

THOUGHTS FROM ABBY WILEY

"You know coming off a 20-13 loss to Belmont Abbey last week, and then being able to perform at the level we performed at today, I'm really proud of them. We asked them to play a full 60 minutes and they did, plus another three on top of it. We were up 6-2 and then they went up 9-6, we need to make sure we are taking better care of the ball on the offense side. Once we had that timeout and I talked to them they really did a much better job of capitalizing. I'm really proud of our defense. They held strong and they played wonderfully."

- Plotts got the offense going for WU, collecting the first goal of the game at the 27:20 mark
- UMO got on the board less than a minute later when Meaghan Michaud found the back of the net
- Roux notched her first goal of the game with 24:13 to go
- The Trojans got a goal from Tiffany Lee making it 2-2 at the 21:20 mark
- The Bulldogs would go on a 4-0 run spanning three-minutes of action
- Ruiz got the rally started for the 'Dogs
- Burke netted a free-position goal and Wells netted a goal while the 'Dogs had a player advantage
- Wingate's flurry was capped by a Bella Pellet goal at the 15:06 mark
- UMO then went on an 8-0 run spanning into the second half
- The Trojans netted four in the first frame
- Kelly Young found Emily Prentice to net the first goal of the rally at the 11:33 mark
- Lee netted two more for UMO, cutting Wingate's lead to one
- Kiara Burke netted a free position shot at the seven-minute mark to make it 6-6

SECOND HALF

- Mount Olive netted the first four goals of the second half
- The Trojans' rally was capped by a Lee goal at the 18:31 mark making it 10-6
- Wingate answered with a 3-0 run
- All three goals came from Ruiz on free position shots
- Ruiz's third free position goal came with 15 minutes left to play
- Mount Olive got a goal with 9:31 remaining making it 11-9
- Roux answered for Wingate one minute later cutting the Trojan lead to one
- UMO's final goal of regulation came from Jordan Shugrue at the eight-minute mark
- Wingate got a Wells goal with 3:51 left on the clock, getting the 'Dogs within one
- The Trojans cleared the ball with 1:09 remaining
- A Peyton McCracken caused turnover gave the Bulldogs the ball with 24 second to go
- Sierra Street collected the ground ball, finding the streaking Wells who netted the equalizer with three seconds remaining
 
OVERTIME

- Mount Olive took the first shot of overtime with 1:29 on the clock but Biase collected the save
- The Bulldogs had a free position chance with one minute to go but were unable to find the back of the net
- Shugrue netted the winning goal for UMO with 23 seconds left in the first overtime
