Balanced Bulldogs sweep past Railsplitters

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs had five different players with at least five kills Friday night, sweeping past visiting Lincoln Memorial 3-0 in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action in Cuddy Arena. Wingate won by scores of 27-25, 25-19 and 25-19 to improve to 11-1 overall and 7-2 in the SAC. The Railsplitters fall to 3-10 overall and 2-6 in league play. Wingate has now won six straight, while improving to 32-1 all-time against LMU, with a 17-0 mark in Cuddy Arena.

- Wingate hit .278 for the match; LMU hit .128
- The 'Dogs had 44 kills and 14 errors in 108 attacks
- The Railsplitters compiled 32 kills and 18 errors in 109 swings

- Two Warren kills and a Stacherski kill gave the Bulldogs a 9-6 advantage
- A Lambillotte kill and Young ace stretched the lead to six at 15-9
- A kill and a block from Kaley Long trimmed the lead to one at 16-15
- Kills from Sutphin and Warren gave the 'Dogs a 20-16 lead
- A Stacherski kill and Warren ace made it 22-18, while a Young kill and Schaff block made it 24-20
- Two blocks and a kill from Ketura Margeret sparked a 4-0 LMU run that tied it at 24
- An LMU error and Schaff kill put the 'Dogs on top 26-25
- Another Schaff kill ended the frame
- Schaff had four kills in six swings in the set; Warren added four kills in 10 swings

SECOND SET

- A Blackley kill, followed by a kill and a block from Stacherski gave WU an 8-3 lead
- Kills from Sutphin and Blackley, along with a Young block made it 14-7
- Kills from Blackley and Stacherski pushed the advantage to eight at 18-10
- A kill and a block from Sutphin put the 'Dogs on top 22-14
- Young's kill made it 24-18; a Lambillotte kill ended the set
- Blackley had five kills in six swings in the set; Stacherski added four kills in seven swings
- The Bulldogs hit .583 in the frame with 15 kills and one error in 24 attacks

THIRD SET

- A Blackley kill and Jamerson ace gave Wingate a 10-6 lead in the third set
- A Blackley kill and two Warren kills, along with a Sutphin kill made it 15-9
- Kills from Sutphin and Blackley, followed by a Young ace put WU on top 19-11
- A Jamerson ace and Stacherski kill made it 22-12
- Kills from Blackley and Stacherski put WU on top 24-18; Stacherski ended it with a kill
