#13 Limestone uses big second half to rally past Wingate

Gaffney, S.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs held a 6-5 halftime lead at #13 Limestone University Saturday afternoon, but the Saints used a big 7-0 second half run to prevail 15-10 in South Atlantic women's lacrosse action. Limestone improves to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-1 on the season and 0-1 in league play.

FIRST HALF

- Wingate jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening five minutes
- Hiles scored less than two minutes in off a Burke assist
- Plotts scored at the 25:48 mark to make it 2-0
- The Saints got on the board with 23:55 left, but the 'Dogs answered 25 seconds later
- Plotts scored off a Mia Kwiatkoski assist to give Wingate a 3-1 advantage
- A goal from Knowles put the Bulldogs on top 4-2 with 19:32 remaining
- Rachel Denney scored with 13 minutes left to pull Limestone within a goal
- Plotts answered with a goal off a Wells assist to put the Bulldogs back on top by two
- Denney scored with 2:42 left to tie it at five
- Knowles scored 40 seconds later to give Wingate a 6-5 halftime lead

SECOND HALF

- Limestone scored three times in the first seven minutes, getting two Julia Foster goals to go up 8-6
- Hiles scored with 22:54 remaining to make it a one-goal game
- The Saints scored the next seven goals, taking a 15-7 lead on a Gracie DePaul goal with 9:16 to go
- Knowles scored off a Wells assist with just under three minutes remaining
- Hiles found the back of the net off a Burke assist with one minute to go
- Blakeley capped the scoring on the day with 12 seconds left

- The Bulldogs are back in action next Saturday, hosting UVA Wise at 12 p.m.
