Bulldogs notch first shutout in program history in 22-0 victory over Cobras

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs posted the first shutout in program history Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 22-0 victory over visiting Coker University in South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action. The Bulldogs improve to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the SAC, while the Cobras fall to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in league play.

- Coker had 14 turnovers compared to Wingate's eight

FIRST HALF

- Wingate raced out to a 10-0 lead less than 12 minutes in
- Wells had two goals in the first five minutes, with Knowles and Plotts also scoring
- The 'Dogs scored four times in less than three minutes, getting two Ruiz goals to make it 8-0
- Goals from Wells and Plotts put the 'Dogs on top by 10 with 18:34 left
- Clouser found the back of the net two minutes later, while Akers and Cifolilli followed to make it 13-0
- Plotts scored in the final second to give the 'Dogs a 14-0 halftime lead

SECOND HALF

- Pellet scored the first two goals of the half to make it 16-0 with 18 minutes left
- Piazza scored two minutes later to put the Bulldogs on top by 17
- Jess Abrams scored with 10:29 remaining to make it 20-0
- Caldwell scored with 2:19 to go to push the lead to 21
- Camryn Gallagher scored in the last minute to make the final margin 22-0
