Balanced attack leads efficient Bulldogs past Cobras in three

Wingate, N.C.----Six different Bulldogs had at least four kills Tuesday night as Wingate University hit .351 to cruise past Coker University in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action in Cuddy Arena. Wingate won by scores of 25-13, 25-9 and 25-19 to improve to 4-1 overall and 4-1 in the SAC, while the Cobras fall to 1-3 overall and 1-3 in league play.

"I am really proud of our team and how we were so well-prepared. We came out and played inspiring volleyball with each other. We have really been grinding and improving every day in practice and I think it really showed how resilient we are when we play that well together."

FIRST SET

- Kills from Lambillotte and Maggie Young gave Wingate a 6-3 lead
- An Emily Everton block pulled Coker within one at 6-5
- The Bulldogs scored the next 10 points to pull away
- Young started it with a kill, while a kill and a block from Anne Abernathy made it 9-5
- A block and a kill from Schaff capped the spurt to make it 15-5
- Kills from Abernathy and Lambillotte put the 'Dogs on top 23-12
- Back-to-back Coker errors ended the frame
- Wingate hit .423 with 16 kills in the set; Coker hit -.095 with four kills

SECOND SET

- A kill and a block from Stacherski, along with two Warren aces gave Wingate a 9-3 lead
- The 'Dogs added a 6-0 run to take a 17-5 lead, getting two kills and two blocks from Schaff
- Warren's kill gave the Bulldogs a 21-8 advantage
- A kill from Young made it 24-9; Taylor VandenBerg ended it with an ace
- The 'Dogs had 13 kills and two errors to hit .478; Coker hit -.115 with five kills and eight errors

THIRD SET

- A Kasey Eastland ace put the Bulldogs on top 4-1, but a Chelsey Blume kill tied it at six
- Two Blackley kills gave Wingate a 9-6 advantage
- Two Stacherski kills pushed the lead to four, but an Overton kill made it 13-11
- A kill and a block from Schaff, along with a Blackley kill made it 17-12
- Kills from Blackley and Warren pushed the lead to five at 20-15
- Overton pulled Coker back within three with a kill to make it 22-19
- Kills from Stacherski and Kasprak made it 24-19; the match ended on a Coker error
