Bears ride big second quarter to victory at Wingate

Wingate, N.C.----The Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears outscored Wingate University 27-0 in the second quarter Friday night en route to a 44-21 in South Atlantic Conference football action at Irwin Belk Stadium. The Bears improve to 3-0 overall and 3-0 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in league play.

- LR outgained Wingate 407-174 on the night
- The Bears had 288 passing yards and 119 rushing yards
- The Bulldogs compiled 217 passing yards on the night
- Wingate turned it over four times; LR had a pair of turnovers

- Quentin Hayes picked up a fumble and scored from five yards out to make it 13-0
- Grayson Willingham hit Deondre Lester for a 34-yard TD to put LR on top by 20
- Willingham scored from nine yards out to make it 27-0
- Allbaugh's 25-yard field goal on the final play of the half put the Bears on top by 30

THIRD QUARTER

- Wingate went 80 yards on seven plays on its first drive of the second half
- Crocker hit Clark for a 16-yard pickup to get it into LR territory
- Crocker found Lewis for 19 yards to get it to the Lenoir-Rhyne 22
- He hit Desor in the end zone on the next play
- LR answered with a 67-yard drive capped by a Dareke Young 12-yard TD grab to make it 37-7

FOURTH QUARTER

- Wingate went 42 yards on five plays to get back in the end zone
- Crocker connected with Lewis for a 28-yard reception to get it inside the 10
- Crocker found Desor in the end zone again to make it 37-14
- Dwayne McGee capped a 62-yard drive with an eight-yard TD run to put LR back on top by 30
- The 'Dogs answered with a 10-play, 75-yard drive
- Crocker hit Trevor Grant and Ryder Martin for 12 and 14 yard receptions to start the drive
- Crocker found Dillon for 27 yards on fourth and three to get it to the LR 15
- Another Crocker-to-Dillon connection made it first and goal from the three
- Josh Collura scored from a yard out to cap the scoring on the night
