Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs defeated visiting Newberry College 16-7 Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action at Graham Gill Field.

FIRST PERIOD
- The contest went scoreless for the first 11 minutes
- Wingate's first goal of the game came with 3:57 left in the first period from Piazza
- The next goal came when Vodovnik scored a man-up opportunity, making it 2-0 with one minute remaining in the period
SECOND PERIOD
- Piazza scored Wingate's third goal of the game with 9:43 remaining in the second period
- A Cottage goal extended the lead to 4-0
- Brock Strong got Newberry on the board with 7:58 remaining in the period
- Two additional goals from Vodovnik came within 10 seconds of each other
- Kyle Dunklee scored off a Sunderland assist to pull Newberry within four with 4:23 remaining

THIRD PERIOD
- Newberry scored the first two goals of the second half to cut the lead to four
- Orman answered with a goal to make it 9-4
- Grieco scored twice in less than a minute to make it 11-4 with 6:39 remaining
- A Newberry man-up goal from Bukta and Ryan to make it 11-6
- Stenstrom capped the scoring in the frame to give the 'Dogs a six-goal lead heading to the fourth
FOURTH PERIOD
- Wingate scored the first three goals of the final frame
- Ehinger scored off the opening face-off eight seconds in to make it 13-6
- Goals from Piazza and Vodovnik pushed the lead to nine with 10 minutes left
