Bulldogs roll to 22-10 victory over Wolves to stay perfect at home

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs scored the first 10 goals of the game Monday afternoon, rolling to a 22-10 victory over Newberry College in South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action at Graham Gill Field. Wingate moves to 7-2 overall and 5-2 in the SAC, while the Wolves fall to 4-5 overall and 4-4 in league play. The 'Dogs are 7-0 at home this season, outscoring opponents 126-51. Wingate has won the last four contests by a combined score of 75-16.

FIRST HALF

- Wingate raced out to a 10-0 lead less than 13 minutes in
- Wells got the scoring started less than a minute in
- Goals from Cifolilli and Wells came within 40 seconds of each other, extending the lead 3-0
- Wells scored her third goal of the contest just before a Plotts goal put the 'Dogs up 5-0 with 26:07 left
- A free position goal from Burke at 25:07 made it 6-0
- Plotts, Burke and Caldwell scored to make it 10-0 with 17:20 to go
- Newberry answered with a 5-0 run to cut the lead in half
- Chloe Wood scored three of the Newberry goals, making it 10-5 with 2:38 left
- Wingate closed the half by scoring the final three goals
- Wells scored with 1:29 left, followed by a Plotts goal 30 seconds later
- Burke scored with 41 seconds to go to make it 13-5 at halftime

SECOND HALF

- Wood cut the lead back to seven at the 27:42 mark
- Plotts and Wells answered to push the lead to nine with 20 minutes remaining
- Wood and Sophie Moore scored to get Newberry within eight at the 17:40 mark
- The 'Dogs scored the next five goals
- Hiles scored with 16:59 to go, While a Ruiz goal five minutes later made it 18-8
- Knowles scored twice in a minute to extend the lead to 12
- Kamer scored with 7:39 left to put the 'Dogs on top 21-8
- Wood and Moore answered in a two-minute span to make it 21-10
- Clouser capped the scoring on the day with 1:26 left off a Ruiz assist to make it 22-10
