Hege and Clark lead Bulldogs to 75-70 victory at Augusta

Augusta, Ga.----Wingate University guards Emily Hege and Hannah Clark combined for 40 points Sunday afternoon, leading the Bulldogs to a big 75-70 victory at Augusta University in NCAA Division II women's basketball action. Wingate improves to 4-1 overall, while the Jaguars fall to 4-1 on the season.

SECOND QUARTER

- A Yamani Paul bucket with seven minutes left gave Augusta a 29-23 lead
- Clark answered with a triple and a layup to cut the lead to one
- Mone Florence put the Jaguars back on top by six with a triple with a minute left
- Dyson answered with a three, while Hege's jumper at the buzzer made it 39-38 at halftime

THIRD QUARTER

- Layups from Davis and Wilson gave the Bulldogs a 43-41 lead three minutes into the second half
- Buckets from Clark and Laura Kozo stretched the lead to four with four minutes remaining

- A Davis layup and two Barringer free throws put Wingate on top 61-56 at the 8:23 mark
- Hege's layup with 4:48 to go gave the 'Dogs a 65-59 lead
- Two Tomiyah Alford free throws cut the lead to four with under four minutes remaining
- A bucket and two free throws from Troutman put the Bulldogs on top 71-63
- Phillips buried a triple with 1:05 to go to pull the Jaguars within three
- Hege knocked down two free throws with 14 seconds left to make it 73-68
- A Kiera Howard bucket cut the lead to three with 10 seconds remaining
- Clark answered with two free throws to secure the Wingate victory
