Bulldogs down Broncos 78-74 for third straight victory

Fayetteville, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs outscored Fayetteville State University 24-15 in the fourth quarter Saturday afternoon, including a key 13-0 run to prevail 78-74 in NCAA Division II women's basketball action. Wingate improves to 6-1 overall, while the Broncos fall to 4-4 on the season.

- Clark had five points in the flurry, with Laney Beale adding four points
- A London Thompson three put the Broncos back on top by three with a minute left
- A layup and two free throws from Hege gave the 'Dogs a 19-18 lead heading to the second quarter

SECOND QUARTER

- Amina Miles put Fayetteville State on top by two with a layup a minute into the second
- A Barringer bucket and Troutman layup gave Wingate a 30-27 edge at the 6:36 mark
- Triples from Keayna McLaughlin and Trotter put the Broncos on top by six with four minutes left
- The 'Dogs closed out the half on an 11-3 run to take the halftime advantage
- Clark had eight points in the spurt, knocking down a pair of threes to put WU on top 41-39

THIRD QUARTER

- A Morgan Graham layup gave FSU a 49-46 advantage three minutes into the second half
- Bryant's triple at the 4:30 mark pushed the Bronco lead to six
- Thompson buried a three a minute later to make it 57-48
- A Kozo layup and Clark free throw in the final minute pulled the 'Dogs within five heading to the fourth

FOURTH QUARTER

- Two Wilson free throws and a Clark triple gave the Bulldogs a 62-61 lead with 7:33 remaining
- Back-to-back Bryant buckets put FSU back on top by four with five minutes left
- Wingate answered with a huge 13-0 run to take a nine-point lead
- Buckets from Troutman and Kozo started the spurt to tie it, while a Troutman layup with 3:51 to go put the 'Dogs on top
- Clark's triple with 1:27 left made it 75-68, while Troutman capped the flurry with a layup with 33 seconds to go
- Fayetteville State got no closer than four the rest of the way
