#25 Bulldogs score first 15 goals, cruise to 21-2 victory at Mars Hill

Mars Hill, N.C.----The 25th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs posted the first 15 goals of the game Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 21-2 victory at Mars Hill University in South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action. The Bulldogs improve to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the SAC, while the Lions drop to 5-4 overall and 1-3 in league play.

FIRST PERIOD
 
- The Bulldogs opened up a 7-0 lead after 15 minutes
- Ruiz, Wilgeroth, Knowles and Hiles each recorded goals within the opening four minutes
- Burke and Ruiz added scores to take a 6-0 lead
- Knowles scored in the closing seconds of the opening period
 
SECOND PERIOD
 
- Wingate poured on another seven goals in the second frame
- Burke, Scarfogliero and Knowles posted scores in the first three minutes
- Ruiz, Kowles, Pellet and Hiles added goals before the end of the half
- The Bulldogs kept Mars Hill from a shot attempt in the frame
- WU took a 14-0 halftime lead
 
THIRD PERIOD
 
- Gallagher capped the 15-0 run to start the game for Wingate
- Haley Stallings got the Lions on the board at the 12:11 mark
- Kamer, Sophie Gonzalez and Pellet added goals before the end of the third, extending Wingate's lead to 18-1
 
FOURTH PERIOD
 
- Mars Hill scored to open the final 15 minutes
- Kirsten Chalmers, Claire Fuchs and Gallagher each tallied goals in the final 12 minutes
