#13 Lenoir-Rhyne knocks off #7 Bulldogs 10-5

Wingate, N.C.----The 13th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears held seventh-ranked Wingate University to two second-half goals Wednesday night in a 10-5 win in South Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action at Graham Gill Field. Lenoir-Rhyne improves to 10-3 overall and 7-1 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs drop to 10-3 overall and 7-2 in league play.

FIRST PERIOD

­- Lenoir-Rhyne got on the board first five minutes in off a Kyle Hatcher score to take an early 1-0 lead
- The Bears added another score three minutes later to double the lead
-  Padden found Riley for Wingate's first score of the game at the 5:17 mark

SECOND PERIOD

- L-R scored back-to-back to open the second period, taking a 4-1 lead after an Evan Voss goal
- Grieco cut into the deficit three minutes later with the Bulldogs' second goal of the game
- The Bears answered with two more goals over the next five minutes
- Padden scored from a McMahon assist to bring the 'Dogs within three at the break, 6-3

THIRD PERIOD

'- Wingate got the deficit down to two, with Cottage scoring the first goal of the half at the 5:47 mark
- The two teams combined to score three times in a two-minute stretch late in the third period
- L-R's Tommy Aguilar extended the lead to three, which was shortly followed by a goal from Padden
- Toron Eccleston added another goal for the Bears, taking an 8-5 lead into the final 15 minutes

FOURTH PERIOD

- Lenoir-Rhyne scored the only two goals of the final period
- Joe Venazio gave L-R a four-goal cushion at the 12:10 mark
- Voss capped the scoring with more than eight minutes to go
