Sumter, S.C.----The third-seeded and 35th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs cruised to a 4-0 victory over sixth-seeded and 33rd-ranked Carson-Newman University in the opening round of the 2022 South Atlantic Conference men's tennis tournament Thursday morning. The Bulldogs improve to 12-7 overall, while the Eagles fall to 14-8 on the season.
DOUBLES
- The first team All-SAC duo of
Edis Nokic and
Matteo Gostoli rolled to a 6-1 in at one doubles

Petar Basic Palkovic teamed with
Luka Brown for a 6-3 victory at three doubles

Hugo Nossler and
Florian Walcher were tied 5-5 at two doubles when WU clinched the point

SINGLES
- The SAC Freshman of the Year Walcher won 6-1, 6-3 at one singles

Jonas Gasmueck rolled to a 6-0, 6-3 victory at three singles

Gabriel Constantino cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win at four singles
- Brown won the first set 6-3 at two singles before dropping set two; he led 2-1 in the third when the match ended
- Nokic won set two 6-2 at five singles after dropping the opener; the third set had just started when the match was clinched
- Gostoli dropped a tight 7-6 opening set at six singles and trailed 3-2 in set two
