Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs are three weeks away from opening the 2022 men's soccer season. The 'Dogs look to bounce back after a 6-7-2 campaign last season. Wingate won the SAC Tournament title in the 2021 spring season, after advancing to the NCAA National Quarterfinals in 2019. All home games this season and every SAC contest will be streamed through FloSports. The SAC announced a partnership with FloSports over the summer. Fans can

The Bulldogs open the season with a pair of games in Florida, facing Rollins Thursday August 25 in Melbourne before taking on Florida Tech two days later. The 'Dogs opened the 2021 season by hosting the Tars and the Panthers, dropping a pair of tight one-goal contests. Wingate is now 1-5 all-time against Rollins, with a 1-1 record in neutral-site games. The Bulldogs take on Florida Tech August 27 at 7 p.m. The Panthers won in overtime at Wingate last year. The 'Dogs are 2-2 against Florida Tech, with a 1-1 record in Florida.
Wingate opens a three-game home stand Friday, Sept. 2, hosting Auburn Montgomery at 5 p.m. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The Warhawks went 11-5-4 in 2021 and advanced to the NCAA national quarterfinals. Auburn-Montgomery is ranked eighth in the preseason top 25. Wingate opens SAC play Wednesday, Sept. 7, hosting Anderson at 7:30 p.m. The Bulldogs are 9-8 all-time against the Trojans, with a 6-2-1 record at Pride Park. The Trojans defeated Wingate 2-1 in Anderson last season, snapping a two-game Bulldog winning streak in the series. The home stand wraps up Saturday, Sept. 10 when first-year SAC member Emory & Henry comes to town for the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The Wasps went 4-10 last season against a predominantly Division III schedule in their final year before becoming a Division II member.
A three-game road trip starts Tuesday Sept. 13 with a 7 p.m. match at Francis Marion. The Bulldogs downed the Patriots 2-0 at home last September, moving to 6-6-1 all-time against FMU. The 'Dogs are 3-3-1 at Francis Marion. Wingate travels to Carson-Newman for a 7:30 kickoff Saturday, Sept. 17 against the defending regular season SAC champs. The Eagles won 3-1 at Pride Park last year, snapping a five-game unbeaten streak the 'Dogs had against CN in the series. Wingate is 19-12-6 all-time against the Eagles. The Bulldogs won 2-0 at Carson-Newman in the 2021 spring SAC Tournament semifinals en route to the championship, the last time the two teams played at Jefferson City. Wingate is at Catawba Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. The 'Dogs won 2-1 at Catawba in overtime last season to move to 22-15-2 all-time against the Indians. Wingate has won three straight in the series and has a six-game unbeaten streak against Catawba.
Wingate returns home to host Newberry Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. The Bulldogs won 2-0 at home against the Wolves in 2021 and have won six of the last seven in the series, moving to 25-4 all-time against Newberry. The Bulldogs are 15-1 against the Wolves at Pride Park. Wingate travels to Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday, Oct. 1 for a 5 p.m. kickoff. The Bears prevailed 2-0 at Wingate last year. WU is 26-14 all-time against LR, with an 11-7 record in Hickory. The last time the two teams met at Lenoir-Rhyne, the Bulldogs prevailed 1-0 to claim the 2021 spring SAC title.
The 'Dogs are at Limestone Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. The Saints prevailed 2-0 in Gaffney last season. Wingate is 8-4 all-time against Limestone, with a 5-0 record at Pride Park. A two-game home stand starts Saturday, Oct. 8 at 3:30 p.m. when Mars Hill comes to town. The 'Dogs and Lions played to a 0-0 draw in the final game of the 2021 season at Pride Park. Wingate is 11-11-2 all-time against MHU, with a 6-3-2 mark at Pride Park. The Bulldogs host Shaw Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Wingate blanked the Bears 4-0 last season, the first meeting between the two teams.
Wingate travels to Lincoln Memorial Saturday, Oct. 15. The 'Dogs won 2-0 at LMU last season to improve to 13-3 all-time against the Railsplitters and 5-1 at Lincoln Memorial. Wingate welcomes Chowan to town Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. The 'Dogs are 3-1-1 against the Hawks, with a 2-0-1 mark at Pride Park. The two teams last met in 2019, when Wingate rolled to a 5-1 season-opening victory. Chowan is ranked 14
th in the preseason top 25 poll after a 13-4-2 season that ended in the NCAA regional semifinals. The final regular season home game is Saturday, Oct. 22, when the Bulldogs host Tusculum at 4:30 p.m. Wingate downed the Pioneers 2-0 at home in 2021 to move to 12-15-1 all-time against TU, with a 7-4-1 record at home. The 'Dogs wrap up the regular season at Coker Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. The Cobras rallied for a 3-2 victory at Wingate last season for their first-ever victory at Pride Park. The Bulldogs had won eight straight in the series and own a 15-2-1 all-time record against Coker. The Cobras won the SAC Tournament title last year.
The SAC Tournament gets underway Oct. 29, with the higher seeds hosting quarterfinal contests. The SAC Tournament semifinals are slated for Nov. 4, with the championship game taking place Nov. 6. The semifinals and finals will be at the Matthews SportsPlex.
