Due West, S.C.----With changes to the path of Hurricane Ian this weekend, officials at Wingate University and Erskine College have decided to move the contest back to this Saturday, with a 2 p.m. kickoff. Earlier this week, the contest had been moved up to Friday afternoon, but with a better look at this weekend's forecast, both programs have decided the best decision would be to play on Saturday. The contest will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 at J.W. Babb Stadium in Greenwood, S.C. Fans can
watch the game live on FloSports -
live stats are also available.
The original projection of the hurricane had the worst of the weather hitting Friday night into Saturday, but the updated models have the worst of the weather coming through Due West on Friday, then moving out Saturday morning.
The Bulldogs are 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in league play, looking to bounce back from Saturday's overtime loss. Wingate is 3-0 on the road this season. The 'Dogs lead the SAC in scoring defense and total defense, ranking fourth in the nation in both categories, while also leading the nation in sacks.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Bulldogs and the Flying Fleet. Erskine is 2-2 overall and 0-2 in league play, coming off losses to #17 Lenoir-Rhyne and #10 Newberry after picking up wins against the University of Ft. Lauderdale and Clark Atlanta to open the season.
