#7 Wingate rides dominant second half to 15-8 victory at Catawba

Salisbury, N.C.----The seventh-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs outscored Catawba College 8-2 in the second half Wednesday night, prevailing 15-8 in South Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action. Wingate improves to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the SAC, while the Indians fall to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in league play.

- Joey Lindner got Catawba on the board at the 6:13 mark
- Connolly answered with his first goal of the year off a Riley assist to make it 4-1
- A Jackson Braswell goal with 5:20 remaining cut the lead to two
- Cottage scored off a Riley assist three minutes later to push the lead back to three
- Riley scored off Grieco's assist to make it 6-2 heading to the second

SECOND PERIOD

- Lindner and Hunter Clarke scored in the opening 90 seconds to pull Catawba within two
- Riley scored off a Cottage assist to make it 7-4 with 12:49 to go
- Garrett Simi and Frank Cetrone scored the final two goals of the half to make it 7-6

THIRD PERIOD

- Grieco scored in the opening minute to push the lead back to two
- Grieco then hit Lingasin for a goal at the 7:27 mark to make it 9-6
- Matt Mitchell pulled the Indians back within two with 3:27 remaining
- Riley scored off a Grieco assist to put the 'Dogs on top 10-7 heading to the fourth

FOURTH PERIOD

- Wingate scored the first four goals of the final 15 minutes to push the lead to seven
- Moran scored 20 seconds in to start the flurry
- Grieco's goal 33 seconds later made it 12-7
- Cottage scored off a Grieco assist with 10:34 to go to put the 'Dogs on top by six
- Riley scored off a Samson assist at the 4:17 mark to make it 14-7
- Braswell ended the Catawba drought with 3:43 remaining
- McMahon capped the scoring on the night with his goal at the 3:04 mark
