#9 Wingate pushes winning streak to seven with 17-9 victory over Lions

Wingate, N.C.----The ninth-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs won their seventh straight game Saturday afternoon, taking down Mars Hill University 17-9 in South Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action at Irwin Belk Stadium. Wingate improves to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the SAC, while the Lions fall to 2-9 overall and 0-5 in league play.

FIRST PERIOD

- Spence scored the first goal of the day two minutes in

- Kotcamp won the ensuing face-off and scored six seconds later to put WU on top by two
- Savion Williams scored with 1:50 left in the frame to make it 3-2
- Riley scored 30 seconds later to extend the lead back to two

SECOND PERIOD

- Riley scored off a Grieco assist 32 seconds into the second frame
- Lingasin scored off a riley assist with 13 minutes left to make it 6-2
- Kotcamp won the face-off and scored eight seconds later to push the lead to five
- Grieco scored two minutes later to make it 8-2
- Riley scored off a Cottage assist, while a Cottage goal off Grieco's assist made it 10-2 at the 4:42 mark
- McMahon scored of Grieco's assist with 3:28 to go to make it 11-3 at halftime

THIRD PERIOD

- Lingasin and Riley scored in the opening five minutes to put the 'Dogs on top 13-4
- John Hommel's goal cut the lead to seven with eight minutes left
- Castle scored off a Spence assist with six minutes to go to make it 14-6
- Moltisanti's first career goal came off Moran's assist with 4:45 remaining

FOURTH PERIOD

- Samson scored four minutes into the final frame to make it 16-7
- Goss scored his first career goal at the 5:10 mark to give WU a 17-8 advantage
