#12 Bulldogs cruise to 21-5 victory in SAC opener

Wingate, N.C.----The 12th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs opened league play in impressive style Saturday afternoon, scoring the first 10 goals of the contest en route to a 21-5 victory over Tusculum University in South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action at Irwin Belk Stadium. Wingate improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in league play, while the Pioneers fall to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in league play.

FIRST QUARTER

- Wingate scored the first 10 goals of the contest, forcing a running clock at the 2:54 mark
- Kamer scored the first two, while Pellet and Knowles added goals to make it 4-0 with 12:26 left
- Clouser and Garvin scored within 20 seconds of each other to push the lead to six
- Caldwell scored off Watson's assist to make it 7-0 at the 9:14 mark
- Scherer and Knowles scored in a 40-second span to push the lead to nine with five minutes to go
- Ruiz scored off Blakely's assist with 2:54 remaining to make it 10-0

SECOND QUARTER

- Lucy Brewer got Tusculum on the board two minutes into the second
- Ruiz and Watson answered with goals to make it 12-1 with 8:19 remaining
- Knowles and Fuchs capped the scoring in the frame off assists from Kamer and Garvin to make it 14-2

THIRD QUARTER

- The Pioneers scored the first two goals of the second half, cutting the lead to 10 on Daniel's goal at the 6:35 mark
- Bellet's goal with 4:13 to go pushed the lead back to 11
- Daniel struck again at the 1:18 mark to make it 15-5
- Pellet scored with 17 seconds left to put the 'Dogs on top by 11 heading to the fourth

FOURTH QUARTER

- Knowles scored a minute into the fourth to make it 17-5
- Koroly's first career goal at the 12:25 mark pushed the lead to 13
- Scherer and Fuchs scored to put Wingate on top 20-5 with 4:21 remaining
- Ruiz capped the scoring off a Kamer assist with 3:01 to go
