#4 Wingate rides huge third period to 14-9 victory over #3 UIndy

Wingate, N.C.----The fourth-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs outscored third-ranked UIndy 7-1 in the third period Saturday afternoon, closing out the regular season with a huge 14-9 victory in a top-five showdown in NCAA Division II men's lacrosse action at Irwin Belk Stadium. The Bulldogs win their 11th straight, closing out the regular season at 12-1 overall. The Greyhounds fall to 10-2 on the season.

- Drew Billig scored five minutes later to put UIndy on top 6-4
- Moran scored off a Grant assist with 13 seconds left to cut the lead to one

THIRD PERIOD

- Grieco tied it 90 seconds into the second half
- Riley scored a minute later to put the 'Dogs on top 7-6
- Nathan Lam tied it at seven at the 12:26 mark
- The Bulldogs scored the final five goals of the frame
- Riley scored off Grieco's assist to start the spurt with 9:42 remaining
- Farley scored his second goal of the season at the 4:22 mark to make it 9-7
- Rupprecht won the ensuing faceoff and found Grieco, who hit Riley for a goal seven seconds later
- Riley scored off Grant's assist with 31 seconds left to make it 11-7
- Rupprecht won another faceoff, then hit Grieco, who made it 12-7 with 26 seconds to go

FOURTH PERIOD

- Wingate's sixth straight goal came from Riley two minutes in off a McMahon assist
- Schaffer and Kyle Basch scored to pull UIndy within four with 3:44 to go
- Riley scored the final goal of the day at the 2:22 mark
