#14 Wingate takes down #17 Lander 4-1 in NCAA Tourney opener

St. Augustine, Fla.----The sixth-seeded and 14th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs opened NCAA Tournament play in impressive fashion, rolling to a 4-1 victory over third-seeded and 17th-ranked Lander University in the NCAA Division II men's tennis Southeast Regional opener. Wingate improves to 21-2 overall, while the Bearcats end their season at 15-5. The Bulldogs have now won 17 straight matches.

DOUBLES

- Luka Brown and Hugo Nossler teamed for a 6-3 win at two doubles
- Florian Walcher and Carlo Rosselini dropped a tight 7-6 match at three doubles
- Lander won 6-3 at one doubles
- The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead into singles play

SINGLES

- Brown rolled to a 6-0, 6-3 win at five singles to tie the match at one
- Nossler won 6-1, 6-3 at four singles to give Wingate a 2-1 advantage
- Edis Nokic prevailed 7-6, 6-4 at three singles to make it 3-1
- Jonas Grasmueck won the clincher, prevailing 7-5, 6-2 at six singles
- Gabriel Constantino was up a set at two singles when the match was clinched
- Walcher dropped set one at one singles, but led the second set 5-4 when the match was clinched
