#19 Wingate sweeps past Catawba in SAC opener

Salisbury, N.C.----The 19th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs opened conference play in style Tuesday night, rolling to a 3-0 victory at Catawba College in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action. Wingate won by scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-13 to improve to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in the SAC. The Indians fall to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in league play.

- Wingate had 47 kills and 13 errors in 103 attacks to hit .330
- Catawba hit .050 with 24 kills and 19 errors in 100 swings

- Kills from Saye, Morland and Young gave the Bulldogs a 24-15 lead
- Johnson ended the frame with a kill

THIRD SET

- A Morland kill and two Rowoldt blocks gave Wingate a 9-5 advantage in set three
- The 'Dogs went on a 6-0 run to stretch the lead to nine
- Stacherski had two kills and a block in the flurry; Saye added a pair of kills
- Another 6-0 run gave Wingate a 24-10 lead
