INFO | Wingate vs. Catawba and UNC Pembroke results
 
Salisbury, N.C.----The Catawba College men's and women's swimming teams swept over Wingate University and UNC Pembroke Friday at the Johnson Poll. The Catawba women defeated both No. 7 Wingate (189-72) and UNCP (172-89), while the hosts edged the No. 8 WU Bulldogs 136-123 on the men's side. The UNCP Braves outlasted the Wingate women 137-124.
 
Wingate sophomore Ney Chagas Filho and freshman Damir Ipkaev won two events each for the visitors. Chagas Filho collected gold medals in the men's 100 Backstroke (51.38) and the men's 200 Backstroke (1:57.04). Ipkaev touched first in the men's 1000 Freestyle (9:41.15) and the 500 Freestyle (4:41.57).
 
Wingate men's highlights
 
- Manoel Silva won the 50 Freestyle with his triumphant time of 20.78
- Silva helped the 'Dogs conclude the meet with a 200 Freestyle Relay victory (1:25.39)
- Silva was joined by Gabriel da Costa, Mike Topchanalis and Anton Witzell
- da Costa was second to Chagas Filho in the 200 Backstroke (1:57.75)
- Topchanalis was second in the 100 Butterfly (50.90)
- Miguel Marcos earned silver medals in the 1000 Free (9:45.25) and the 500 Free (4:42.90)
- Individually, Witzell was second in the 200 Freestyle (1:44.03)
- Kacper Korona finished second in the 200 Butterfly (1:55.85)
- Korona added a bronze medal in the 200 Individual Medley (1:57.77)
- Silva (46.44) and Witzell (47.55) were second and third, respectively, in the 100 Free
- Wingate's 200 Medley Relay quartet took second place to start the meet (1:32.95)

- Azirovic claimed a bronze medal in the 100 Freestyle (53.29)

- Amanda Wenhold finished second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:06.24)
- Wingate's 200 Medley Relay quartet took second place to start the meet (1:48.91)
