Salisbury, N.C.----The Catawba College men's and women's swimming teams swept over Wingate University and UNC Pembroke Friday at the Johnson Poll. The Catawba women defeated both No. 7 Wingate (189-72) and UNCP (172-89), while the hosts edged the No. 8 WU Bulldogs 136-123 on the men's side. The UNCP Braves outlasted the Wingate women 137-124.

Damir Ipkaev won two events each for the visitors. Chagas Filho collected gold medals in the men's 100 Backstroke (51.38) and the men's 200 Backstroke (1:57.04). Ipkaev touched first in the men's 1000 Freestyle (9:41.15) and the 500 Freestyle (4:41.57).
