Cordrey leads Bulldogs to thrilling 2-1 OT victory against Converse

Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University senior midfielder Rylie Cordrey scored late in regulation to force overtime Saturday afternoon, then struck again in OT to lead the Bulldogs to a huge 2-1 victory over Converse University in South Atlantic Conference field hockey action at Graham Gill Field. Wingate improves to 11-3 overall and 9-2 in the SAC, while the Valkyries fall to 7-4 overall and 5-4 in league play.

- Wingate dominated throughout the afternoon, outshooting Converse 28-8
- The Bulldogs held a 16-3 advantage in shots on goal
- Wingate took seven of the nine penalty corners

- Cordrey scored both goals

- She found the back of the net on the shot off an Amparo Figueroa assist to give the Valkyries a 1-0 lead

- Robinson sent one into the box, which Cordrey finished to tie it and force overtime

OVERTIME

- The Bulldogs took five of the six shots in overtime
- Cordrey took a shot that was saved, but she tracked down the rebound
- Cordrey beat the keeper off the rebound, giving the 'Dogs the 2-1 victory
- 10th goal of the season for Cordrey and third game-winner
