Wingate’s incredible rally comes up just short in 5-4 setback in SAC semis

Matthews, N.C.----The top-seeded Wingate University Bulldogs scored three times in a 10-minute stretch late in the second half Friday night, turning a 4-1 deficit into a 4-4 tie, but a goal in the 88th minute gave the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters a 5-4 victory in the semifinals of the South Atlantic Conference women's soccer tournament Friday night at the Matthews Sportsplex. LMU moves to 9-4-4 overall, advancing to the SAC title game, while the Bulldogs fall to 12-3-3 on the year.

- Larsen scored in the 83rd minute to make it a one-goal game
- Larsen struck again just over a minute later to tie it
- Halldorsdottir had the assist on the tying goal with six minutes remaining
- LMU had the answer, with Victoria Filsner scoring in the 87th minute
- Branson assisted on the game-winning goal that sent the Railsplitters to the title match
