Bulldogs take down Converse for first SAC Tourney win in program history

Wingate, N.C.----The third-seeded Wingate University Bulldogs continue to make history in 2024, taking down sixth-seeded Converse University in the quarterfinals of the South Atlantic Conference field hockey tournament Monday night at Graham Gill Field. Wingate picks up its first-ever SAC Tournament victory while playing in the first SAC tourney game in program history, moving to 13-5 on the season. Converse falls to 8-9 on the year.

- The 'Dogs added to their lead midway through the second quarter
- George netted her sixth goal of the year off another Cordrey assist
- Wingate took a 2-0 lead into halftime

FOURTH QUARTER

- The Bulldogs took a three-goal lead with just under two minutes left
- Schrijvers scored off Robinson's assist on the corner to make it 3-0
- Catalina Pistaccio got Converse on the board with 1:08 remaining to make it 3-1

- Wingate is back in action Friday in the SAC Tournament semifinals
