‘Dogs down Findlay 6-3 to push winning streak to five

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs opened up a four-game weekend home stand with a 6-3 victory over the University of Findlay Friday evening in NCAA Division II baseball action at Ron Christopher Stadium and Plyler Athletic Field. Wingate moves to 7-4 overall, while the Oilers fall to 1-4 overall.

KEY STATS

- Each team had nine hits
- The Bulldogs had two of the three extra-base hits including the lone homer
- Wingate left 11 on base; Findlay stranded six
- The 'Dogs had the lone error of the night
- The Bulldogs had four of the six stolen bases
- WU pitching struck out 10 without a walk; UF had nine strikeouts and eight walks

KEY BULLDOGS

- Sean Barnett had a homer and a pair of RBI
- Isaiah Williams-Rhem delivered a pinch-hit two-run single
- Cam Harris was three-for-three with an RBI, two stolen bases and two runs
- Brett Adams added a double and drove in a run
- Ricky Clark collected a hit and scored a run
- Kelan Hoover struck out eight in 5 1/3 innings
- Chad Harvey tossed 3 2/3 shutout frames to earn the win

FIRST INNING

- Harris led off the frame with a single
- Barnett crushed a two-run shot to left to make it 2-0

THIRD INNING

- Harris drew a leadoff walk, then stole second
- He scored when Adams ripped an RBI double to right center to push the lead to three

FOURTH INNING

- RBI singles from Cam Farrar and Nate Brooks cut the lead to one

SIXTH INNING

- Findlay tied it in the sixth on a Bulldog error
- Owen Crevelt drew a leadoff walk, then moved to second on a Cam Carraway single
- An RBI single from Harris drove home Crevelt to put the 'Dogs back on top

SEVENTH INNING

- A Clark one-out single, followed by walks to Crevelt and Andrew McKay loaded the bases
- Williams-Rhem delivered a pinch-hit two-run single up the middle to make it 6-3

WRAPUP

- Harvey got the win, moving to 1-1 on the year
- He struck out two in 3 2/3 shutout frames, allowing just two hits
- Logan Bragg took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings

UP NEXT

- Wingate plays two more games Saturday, taking on Lander at noon and Findlay at 4 p.m.
- The 'Dogs wrap up the weekend Sunday at 4 p.m. against Lander
