Coker knocks off Wingate 68-58 Wednesday night

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs struggled from the field Wednesday night, scoring their second fewest points of the season in a 68-58 setback against Coker University in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action in Cuddy Arena. The Cobras improve to 12-8 overall and 6-7 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 14-8 overall and 9-5 in league play.

- Coker shot 41 percent from the field, going 10-for-23 from three-point range (44 percent)
- Wingate shot 37 percent from the field, connecting on three-of-15 from deep (20 percent)

- A Dasia Lambert triple put the Cobras on top 16-13
- Shawntenna Tillman pushed the lead to seven with a bucket with 1:19 to go
- Beale's jumper with three seconds left made it 23-18 at halftime

THIRD QUARTER

- Clark's layup in the opening minute pulled the 'Dogs within one at 23-22
- Lambert's triple capped a 9-2 Coker run that gave the Cobras a 32-24 advantage
- Clark's layup cut the lead to six with 5:52 to go
- Tillman buried a triple with four minutes remaining to make it 40-30
- Beale's layup at the 3:11 mark pulled Wingate back within six
- Coker scored the final eight points of the frame, taking a 48-34 lead on a Tillman triple

FOURTH QUARTER

- Lambert's triple in the opening minute stretched the lead to 17
- A Clark three and Jaia Wilson layup cut the lead to 10 with 5:53 to go
- Mya Wasswa answered with a triple to push the lead back to 15 at the 4:17 mark
- A Kamari Thompson layup with 2:38 remaining made it 60-43
- Layups from Beale and Hege cut the lead to eight with 1:15 to go
- Tillman knocked down four free throws to make it 68-56
- Wingate got no closer than 10 the rest of the way
