Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs opened up their home slate Friday night with an 8-4 victory over the University of Charleston in NCAA Division II baseball action at Ron Christopher Stadium and Plyler Athletic Field. Wingate moves to 2-2 overall, while the Golden Eagles fall to 0-1 on the season.

- Adams ripped a two-run double to right to give Wingate a five-run cushion

- Harris scored on a passed ball to make it 8-2

- A Hector Carreon two-run double cut the lead to four

WRAPUP

- Hoover got the win, moving to 2-0 on the season
- He allowed one earned run on three hits in six innings, striking out two and walking three
- Boone got the save, tossing 1 1/3 shutout frames with two strikeouts
- Austin Dzierwa got the loss, allowing five runs on four hits in 3 2/3 innings
