Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs hosted their first-ever tri-meet Friday night in Cuddy Arena in NCAA Acrobatics & Tumbling action. It was the second home meet in program history. Wingate fell to Emmanuel 243.570-225.90 and Belmont Abbey 255.120-225.990.
In the opening round, the Bulldogs scored a 9.15 in the pyramid heat and an 8.75 in the toss heat. The second round was the Acro event, which was highlighted by Wingate's 8.85 in the opening heat, the 5-Element heat. The 'Dogs wrapped up round three, the Pyramid event with an 8.60 in the synchronized heat and 9.15 in the open heat.
Wingate's toss event was highlighted by a 7.55 in heat one, the 450 salto heat. Wingate scored an 8.0 or higher on each of the final three heats in the tumbling portion. The 'Dogs scored an 8.625 in the aerial pass and 8.875 in the open pass. The Bulldogs closed out the night with a 78.99 in the team event.
Wingate is back in action next Thursday, hosting Coker at 6 p.m.
