Grieco moves to second in D2 history in career points as #8 Wingate rolls past Catawba

Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University two-time National Attackman of the Year Willie Grieco registered six points Wednesday night, moving into second in NCAA Division II men's lacrosse history with 371 career points as the eighth-ranked Bulldogs rolled to a 19-6 victory over Catawba College in South Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action at Irwin Belk Stadium. The Bulldogs improve to 7-3 overall and 4-1 in the SAC, while the Indians fall to 6-5 overall and 3-3 in league play.

- Grieco scored off a Riley assist 33 seconds later to make it 5-1
- Riley struck a minute later off Grieco's assist to push the lead to five
- Moran capped the scoring at the 4:46 mark, putting the 'Dogs on top 7-1

SECOND PERIOD

- Riley scored off a Moran assist three minutes in to extend the lead to seven
- Grieco's goal at the 8:52 mark made it 9-1
- Hickam scored off a Goss assist 31 seconds later to put the Bulldogs in double figures
- Tillett scored off a Blakely assist 10 seconds later, making it 11-1
- Moran scored off a Spence assist 34 seconds later , capping a 5-0 second period

THIRD PERIOD

- Papach scored off a Grieco assist four minutes into the third, giving Wingate a 13-1 lead
- Moran struck off a Goss assist, making it 14-2 at the 10:27 mark
- Samson's goal with 8:42 to go gave the 'Dogs a 13-goal advantage
- Moran scored off a Grieco assist at the 2:58 mark to give the Bulldogs a 16-3 lead
- Clark scored off Grieco's assist with seven seconds left, making it 17-5 heading to the fourth

FOURTH PERIOD

- McMahon's goal at the 5:22 mark made it 18-6
- Hegarty capped the scoring on the night with 58 seconds left, making the final margin 19-6
