Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs extended their best-ever start in style Tuesday afternoon, knocking off #7 Mount Olive 1-0 in South Atlantic Conference field hockey action at Graham Gill Field. The Bulldogs move to 3-0 overall and 3-0 in the SAC, while the Trojans fall to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in league play.

FIRST QUARTER
- Wingate struck early in the opening quarter, getting in the board just four minutes in
- Proulx stated it with a corner, finding Fisher who put the 'Dogs on top
- Szymborski's first save of the day came in the final minute to keep WU ahead 1-0
SECOND QUARTER
- Szymborski piled up three more saves in the second frame to keep UMO off the board
- Montgomery put a shot on frame five minutes in, but was turned away
THIRD QUARTER
- The 'Dogs took the only three shots on frame in the third quarter
- Montgomery, Cordrey and Fisher each put a shot on goal in the frame
FOURTH QUARTER
- The Trojans had four corners in the final frame, but could not beat the WU defense
- Szymborski had three more saves, with two coming in the final four minutes
