Miami Shores, Fla.----The Barry University Buccaneers scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning Friday night en route to a 9-8 victory over visiting Wingate University in NCAA Division II baseball action. Barry starts the season 1-0, while the Bulldogs fall to 0-1.

- He scored on Courville's RBI groundout to cut the lead to two
- A two-run homer from Harry Vargas Segura in the bottom of the frame gave Barry an 8-4 lead
SIXTH INNING
- Singles from Hoffman and Naylor gave Wingate runners on first and second to start the frame
- An RBI single from Harris pulled the Bulldogs within three
- Sullivan followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 8-6
SEVENTH INNING
- Meyer reached on a one-out single, then stole second
- He scored when Naylor reached on an error to make it a one-run game
- Harris drew a bases-loaded walk to plate Naylor, making it 8-8
EIGHTH INNING
- Jimmy Bruno singled and stole second with one out
- Segura's RBI double plated Bruno to give Barry a 9-8 lead
NINTH INNING
- Hoffman led off the inning with a single, while pinch-runner Will Farrell stole second
- Courville's infield single put runners on second and third with two outs
- A popout ended the game with the tying run 90 feet away
WRAPUP
