#20 Wingate takes down LMU for 12th straight win

Wingate, N.C.----The 20th-ranked Wingate University remained perfect in league play Friday night, prevailing 3-1 against Lincoln Memorial University in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action in Cuddy Arena. Wingate won by scores of 25-18, 25-11, 19-25, 25-12 to improve to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in the SAC, while the Railspliters fall to 7-8 overall and 3-3 in league play.

KEY STATS

- Wingate had 64 kills and 18 errors in 151 swings, hitting .305
- LMU had 35 kills and 14 errors in 138 attacks to hit .152
- The Bulldogs had 10 of the 14 blocks on the night
- The 'Dogs held an 8-3 advantage in aces

- A Kaitlyn Johnson kill gave LMU a 10-7 lead

- Wingate added a 5-0 run, getting two kills and an ace from Tanner to go on top 13-3
- The Bulldogs followed with a 6-0 run, capped by three straight Hoffman aces to make it 19-4
- Kills from Grace Woodring, Reece Bellush and Addie Rossum made it 23-8
- Tanner's kill made it 24-9; Van Heyst ended the set with a kill

SET THREE

- A block from Sarah Robbins gave LMU an 11-7 lead
- A Johnson kill and Tanner block cut the lead to one at 11-10
- Georgia Dobson's kill pushed the lead back to three at 14-11
- Kills from Morland and Van heist pulled the 'Dogs back within one
- A Finley Sparks kill gave the Railsplitters a 20-15 advantage
- Back-to-back WU errors gave LMU a 22-16 lead
- A block from Saye and Johnson cut it to four, but Dobson's kill made it 24-18
- A Wingate error ended the frame

SET FOUR

- Back-to-back Mas kills gave the Bulldogs a 6-5 lead
- A Karlee Plozay kill put LMU on top 9-8
- A kill and a block from Johnson, along with kills from Tanner and Saye gave WU a 12-10 lead
- A block from Robbins cut the lead back to one
- The 'Dogs answered with an 8-0 run to take a 20-11 lead
- Van Heyst had four kills in the flurry, with Morland adding three kills
- Kills from Mas and Morland put the 'Dogs on top 23-12
- A block from Morland and Van Heyst made it 24-12; a Tanner ace ended the match
