#15 Wingate sweeps past Cobras in SAC Tourney quarterfinals for 25th straight win

Wingate, N.C.----The top-seeded and 15th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs are onto the SAC Tournament semifinals after sweeping past eighth-seeded Coker University in the quarterfinals of the 2025 South Atlantic Conference volleyball tournament in Cuddy Arena Tuesday night. Wingate won by scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-10 to improve to 26-1 overall. The Cobras fall to 11-17 on the year.

- Wingate had 49 kills and 11 errors in 117 attacks, hitting .325
- Coker had 20 kills and 19 errors in 113 swings to hit .009

SET ONE

- A Morland block and Mas kill gave the Bulldogs an early 6-2 lead
- A Cayla Gilmore kill capped a 6-1 run that gave Coker an 8-7 advantage
- A Van Heyst kill tied it at 10, but a Pelin Aksoy kill gave the Cobras an 11-10 lead
- The 'Dogs scored the next seven, getting two kills and a block from Morland to go on top 17-11
- A kill and a block from Johnson, along with a Van Heyst kill put the 'Dogs on top 22-14
- A Johnson kill and Coker error made it 24-15; Saye ended the frame with a kill

SET TWO

- Kills from Van Heyst, Saye and Morland gave Wingate a 3-1 lead
- Coker scored five of the next six, taking a 6-4 lead on a McKay Kasper kill
- WU used a 7-0 run to take a 12-7 lead, with Mas notching two kills and a block
- An Addie Bittner kill pulled the Cobras within two at 14-12
- Johnson's ace put the 'Dogs on top 16-12
- Two kills and a block from Morland sparked a 5-0 run that made it 21-13
- A Morland kill and Tanner ace made it 24-14; a Coker error ended the frame

SET THREE

- Mas and Van Heyst had two kills each in a 4-1 run that gave the 'Dogs a 7-4 advantage
- Bittner's kill tied it at seven
- A kill and a block from Johnson, followed by two Saye kills made it 12-8
- The Bulldogs scored the next 12 to go on top 24-9 behind the strong serving of Johnson
- Morland and Saye notched three kills apiece in the flurry, with Johnson adding two aces
