Wise, Va.----The UVA Wise Cavaliers picked up a 69-54 victory over visiting Wingate University in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action Wednesday night. The Cavs improve to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in league play.

- Two Shorma free throws cut the lead to six
- A Caroline Mullins layup with two seconds left gave the Cavs a 14-6 advantage
SECOND QUARTER
- A Jalie Ruehling triple at the 6:27 mark gave UVA Wise a 24-8 lead
- Back-to-back Montiel buckets, followed by a Chavis three-point play cut the lead to nine
- Alissa Cheek's bucket with two minutes left gave the Cavaliers a 30-17 advantage

Anasia Harvey's layup in the final minute made it 32-22 heading to halftime
THIRD QUARTER
- Buckets from Montiel, Shorma and Beale pulled WU to within four at 32-28 at the 7:28 mark
- A Mullins layup at the midway points stretched the lead back to double figures at 42-30
- Buckets from Bacon and Merceron trimmed the lead back to nine with three minutes to go
- Merceron's jumper with 1:17 remaining made it 47-40
- Cheek's jumper in the final minute gave the Cavs a nine-point cushion heading to the fourth quarter
FOURTH QUARTER
- Triples from Cheek and Emilea Preece gave UVA Wise a 60-44 lead at the 6:46 mark
- Merceron's triple with 4:14 to go cut the deficit to 14
- Two Izzy Proffitt free throws at the 2:20 mark gave the Cavaliers a 67-49 lead
- The Bulldogs got no closer than 15 the rest of the way
